Geranium - Pelargonium
Pelargoniums are perfect in patio pots, planters and window-boxes on the patio or decking. A pelargonium will flower for months on end throughout the summer. They are fairly undemanding - just water them regularly and give your display some dead heading now and then to remove any overblown flowers. Order your favourite colour from those shown below and you will be amazed at just how many flowers you will get from just one plant!

Geranium - Pelargonium
Geraniums (Pelargoniums) are popular
A geranium is possibly the most well-known plant around. Geraniums have been popular for centuries and are available in many different shades – red, white, pink, purple and orange. You can also get varieties of geraniums with striped flowers. There is also a lot of choice in flower shapes, single-flowered, semi-double flowered and double-flowered. Geraniums originated in the South African Cape region.
Upright geraniums
Uprights are the most popular and make the perfect summer flower. We often treat geraniums as annuals but they are really, small, shrub like plants. In South Africa where they grow in the wild, the bushy shrubs become quite thick with fragile stems. In most European gardens, upright geraniums flower from April well into October. The height varies from 15-40 cm. Most geraniums have green foliage, some with pretty markings. If you bruise the leaves, you get the smell of the typical geranium.
Hanging geraniums
Hanging geraniums are very profusely flowering plants in both full sun and semi-shade. We have all seen pictures of the Austrian balconies smothered with hanging geraniums! Hanging geraniums are easy to maintain and are quite undemanding. Do keep the soil moist to prevent the leaves turning yellow. Regular dead-heading will keep them flowering abundantly.
