A floral firework

A floral firework! The bi-coloured flowers of Geranium 'Nixe' (Pelargonium) look festive. This Pelargonium is in fact a hanging plant! It produces a profusion of purple-and-white flowers, so you will be enjoying this cheerful geranium on your balcony or patio for quite a while. You can plant the geranium between March and June. The plant will then flower from April to October.
The Pelargonium prefers a bright spot or in partial shade. Water the plant twice a week.

Planting
These Hanging geraniums are one of the strongest patio plants. Choose a pot with holes in the base. Cover the bottom with a layer of potsherds or hydro granules. Put potting compost mixed with some sharp sand in the pot. Plant the Hanging Geraniums at the appropriate depth. Fill the pot with potting compost and press firmly. Leave enough space for the irrigation water. Immediately water after planting. Place the geraniums in a position with complete sunshine so that they can bloom to their maximum. Hanging geraniums for hanging baskets These incredibly rich flowering geraniums look amazing in window-boxes. Hanging baskets also make an excellent home for these geraniums. The smooth stems hang gracefully over the edge of the hanging basket. Enjoy a beautiful combination with the stunning colours of Pelargonium Peltatum, Calibrachoa, Fuchsias and Cuphea Llavea ('Tiny Mice').
Care
Water your 'Hanging Geraniums on a regular basis to prevent the soil from drying out. These pelargoniums are drought tolerant therefore the soil around the roots definitely shouldn't be too wet. A constant wetness of the roots may lead to root rot, so ensure proper drainage in the flower pot. We recommend cutting off the faded flowers to encourage a further flowering of these beautiful flowers. For an extra rich flowering, it is advisable to feed with plant food when watering, on a regular basis during the summer. Hanging Geraniums can be preserved throughout the winter.
Extra
The official name of this plant is Pelargonium Peltatum. These geraniums have smooth, thick leaves that can store plenty of moisture. They are well known for their 'succulent leaves'. Due to this 'moisture reservoir', these plants have a good drought tolerance and will last a long time in flower pots and planters in an area with complete sunshine. The smooth stems hang over and are richly decorated with flower heads.
