For best results with potted zonal Pelargonium, use a large pot with drainage holes. Cover the holes with potsherds or a layer of hydro-pellets to allow good drainage too. Use fresh potting compost (or preferably special geranium potting compost) and plant your upright geranium at the correct depth. Fill the pot and press firmly down. Water immediately and stand the pot in full sun or part shade.
This upright geranium will work well in the border too. Add a mix of potting compost to the soil for a little improvement if necessary. Beware of frost - it will kill your zonal Pelargonium.

Care
Pelargonium zonal is an upright variety of pelargonium (also known as geranium but is not strictly such) that can handle quite some drought. We do advise feeding regularly throughout the summer with plant food for flowering plants to ensure profuse flowering. Regular deadheading will encourage new buds to form.
Pelargoniums are not hardy but will survive the winter indoors. Repot your upright geranium in the spring, cut hard back and it should thrive.
