Fuchsia
Fuchsia
This is a graceful family of plants with more than 100 varieties that come from the cool, damp mountainous regions of the equator. There are some plants that will always be popular and the fuchsia is one of them. Specifically because the fuchsia has been used in our gardens for so long, there are just so many hybrids to discover. Each and every fuchsia has something special about it. There are 4 different types of fuchsia flowers – single, double, hanging and bunch fuchsia.
Fuchsia in bloom
Fuchsias flower for a long time, usually May through to October. A fuchsia is a very grateful plant that, if looked after properly, will flower abundantly for a long time. Fuchsia is especially admired for its wonderful colours.Fuchsia in the garden or potted up
Fuchsias can be planted straight into the garden but they are particularly suited to growing in pots, planters and window boxes on the patio or decking. If you intend to pot your fuchsia use good soil and give it a spot with shade as they’re not great sun worshippers.
Keeping fuchsia over the winter
If you want to keep your Fuchsia over the winter, bring them indoors between mid-October and mid-November… before the first frost! Keep your fuchsia in a cool, light position. Only put them outdoors again after all chance of frost is passed.
