3x Fuchsia 'Sacha' red-purple

For these fuchsias choose a pot with holes in the base. Cover the holes with gravel or a layer of hydro-pellets to allow surplus water to drain away.
Use fresh potting compost, preferably to encourage optimal growth. Place some compost in the bottom of the pot and plant your fuchsia at the correct depth before filling up with more compost. Press down firmly and water immediately.
A spot anywhere in sun or (part) shade will be appreciated. Fuchsias in pots The flowers of these fuchsias are the perfect choice for filling a pot or planter on your patio. The single flowers have long graceful stamens. An upright plant that will combine well with other fuchsia varieties, Impatiens and leafy plants such as the ivy. Line porous pots with plastic to prevent the pot drying out too quickly.
 

Fuchsias need a lot of water in the summer, the soil should always be moist, but they do not like their roots standing in water. Protect your plants from the strongest rays of the sun. For more profuse flowering, we recommend adding fertiliser each week when watering. Regular deadheading will also encourage them to flower again.
  Keeping fuchsias over the winter Fuchsias are not frost resistant, however, it is quite easy to keep them over the winter.
There are two ways to do this:

1. Bring the pot indoors in October (before the first) and keep it in a cool area (5-10° C). Doesn't matter if it's dark because the plant loses its leaves over the winter anyway. Do ensure that the pot doesn't dry out entirely.
2. You could also just dig your fuchsia in. To do this, dig a 60 cm deep trench and line it with a layer of mulch or turf. Place the plants, pot and all in the trench and sprinkle with compost. Cover the whole trench with a layer of plastic to keep off excess water.

In April pot the plants up into a slightly larger pot with some fresh potting compost. Stand in a warm place and water regularly. From mid-May the fuchsias will be ready to go outside again. but beware of any late frosts.

Fuchsias are one of the most popular patio plants. They are one of the few flowering potted plants that do well in a semi-shade while producing several flowers. This plant is native to damp mountain forests around the equator and is named after the famous botanist Leon Hart Fuchs.
The large-flowered fuchsia species that we know of for the garden are all cultivars. There are over 8,000 types of fuchsias, single-flowered, semi-double or double-flowered. The sepals of fuchsia are always beautifully coloured, usually in a different shade than the petals.
