Carrots come in two sorts: summer carrots and winter carrots. This means that you can enjoy freshly harvested carrots right up until winter. They are sweet, crunchy and full of vitamins and minerals. They are also very easy to grow. They can be eaten raw in a salad, boiled in water to accompany potatoes, or even stir-fried. Choose from the range below.

Sowing Carrots

Carrots can be grown outdoors (in the cold frame) from the start of February to the end of March already. Being under glass protects the seedlings and young carrots from frost. From April on, they don’t need to stay in the cold frame any longer and you can sow them right into the garden. Carrots don’t require extra fertiliser at all.

Carrots are really good for you

The big advantage to carrots is that they can be eaten raw, just like apples, bananas or oranges. Practically a piece of fruit! Kids like to snack on raw carrots too. Raw carrot contains very few carbohydrates but lots of vitamin A - which is good for seeing in the dark actually! Vitamin B is in carrots too and that’s good for digesting and regulating hormones.
