Silver-blue carpet
Looks like it has leapt out of a fairy tale! The juniper 'Blue Carpet' (Juniperus squamata) covers the garden like a carpet. The silver-blue colour of the pine needles gives an extra mysterious effect. The winter-hardy plant retains its colour all year round. You can plant the Juniperus all year round, provided temperatures have not dipped below freezing.
Prune the juniper once, just before the summer. Then cut any shoots that stick out. You can also remove shoots if the foliage becomes too compact. Place the plant in full sun. Water the plant sparingly. Water it more during dry periods.
