Magnolia michelia-hybride ‘Fairy Magnolia Blush’
Mauve-pink blush
Create the ultimate springtime feeling with the richly flowering Magnolia 'Fairy Magnolia Blush' (Magnolia michelia)! Beautiful, fragrant flowers with a pinky mauve blush and evergreen leaves. The 'Fairy Magnolia Blush' is also beautiful as a hedge or in a very large pot! The flowers bloom in the spring.
You should plant the Magnolia in a sheltered place to protect it from cold wind. By doing so, the flowers will fade to brown less quickly. Give it extra water during dry periods.

Planting+

What do I need?

  •     Trowel
  •     Bucket
  •     Watering can or gardening hose
Make sure that the root ball of the magnolia is sufficiently damp. Place the small tree in a bucket of water for 15 minutes before planting. Create a spacious hole for planting and till the soil well. Place the root ball of the magnolia into the planting hole. The top side of the root ball should be just below ground level. Fill the hole up with potting soil and press firmly. Water immediately after planting.

Care+

What do I need?

  •     Pruning shears/saw
  •     Cow manure pellets
  •     Watering can or garden hose

Maintenance

Scatter cow manure pellets around this shrub during the spring and summer. Moisten the pellets right away.

Pruning
Has the magnolia grown too large? Trim or saw off some of the lower branches if it has grown into a small tree. If still a shrub, just remove some of the outermost branches. Magnolias always have an easy time growing. As a small tree, the magnolia can grow up to five metres tall.

Extra+

The magnolia is native to China. The Magnolia genus is named after the French botanist Pierre Magnol (1638-1715). This Magnolia soulangeana is also known as the saucer magnolia.
