Spiraea thrives in fertile soil. Improve a poor garden soil with the addition of some well-rotted compost and granulated cow manure. A spot in full sun or part shade and you spiraea will be happy..
Make sure that the roots of the spiraea are soaked well prior to planting - stand in a bucket of lukewarm water for a while. Prepare a large hole and thoroughly loosen the soil with a fork. Plant your spiraea at the right depth - the top of the root ball should come to just below soil level. Fill the hole with more soil and heel well in. Water immediately after planting.
  Using spiraea as hedging The abundant flowering makes this Japanese spiraea a real winner for your garden. A low growing shrub in will also look great in beds and borders, or use it to make a low hedge. This undemanding spiraea flowers all summer long.
Care
The Japanese spiraea is a sturdy shrub, very undemanding, therefore easy to care for. In winter, mulch with a thick layer of compost and granulated cow manure. Wet soil in winter is not appreciated. Pruning spiraea Spiraea is a shrub that flowers on this year's wood. You can cut your spiraea hard back to approx. 10 cm above soil level every year in April. If necessary, you can also rejuvenate it slightly by cutting out about one third of all branches.
