Beautiful purple
Gorgeous purple, spherical flowers on long stems. Greater knapweed (Centaurea scabiosa) is an eye-catcher in the garden and a fantastic native plant. The organic flowers are edible and easy to take care of. They also bring butterflies and bees to the garden for even more enjoyment. They will flock to this native plant. A decorative border! The flowers bloom beautifully in the summer.
After it blooms, cut the plant back to about 5 to 10 cm above the ground. Centaurea is hardy to temperatures of up to -30 degrees. The plant should be protected from heavy rain and snow in winter. Plant three plants per linear metre. Cornflower is idea for a south-facing garden. The Centaurea requires a sunny, warm spot. Make sure that the plant doesn't dry out in the summer. Give extra water in those periods.
