How do I plant the Chinese Windmill Palm in a pot?
The Trachycarpus fortunei is a brilliant container plant. This palm tree grows well in a large and especially deep flowerpot or planter. But there must be holes in the bottom of the pot or planter. Cover the bottom with pot shards or a layer of clay pebbles. Add potting soil to the pot and place the root ball of Trachycarpus fortunei at the correct height. Fill it up with potting soil and press firmly. Give the Windmill Palm plenty of water immediately after planting. Place the pot in a sheltered area, yet in the sun. A patio or balcony facing west or south is ideal.

The Chinese Windmill Palm is a strong palm that is very easy to grow. Water the Chinese Windmill Palm on a regular basis, as the root ball must not dry out. For good growth in the summer, add plant nutrients to the irrigation water each month. Give cow manure pellets in early spring. Is the palm growing too big? If so, transfer the palm tree to a larger pot, using fresh potting soil.
