Cheerful and colourful
A colourful addition to your autumn garden. The fountain grass 'Hameln' (Pennisetum alopecuroides) is best in a group as a ground cover, but it also looks great on its own in a beautiful flower pot. In summer the Pennisetum blooms with light brown to light pink flower spikes. They bloom well into winter. And fade to silver-white. The leaves turn from green to greenish yellow in autumn. A happy spectacle in the garden! You can plant the fountain grass all year round. Except in frost.
The plant is moderately winter-hardy. So in the autumn apply a mulch layer so that the roots do not freeze. In the spring, prune the faded flower spikes and leaves back to 10 cm above the ground. Plant the Pennisetum in a nice spot in full sun. Give it extra water during dry periods.
