Planting
Plant your Prunella grandiflora upon receipt in the garden or in a planter. Prepare a wide hole and loosen the soil with a fork. Improve poor soil with a mix of potting compost and granulated cow manure. Plant your large prunella at the correct depth - the top of the roots should be just below ground level. Fill the hole with soil, heel well in and water immediately.
Large prunella will thrive in fertile, fairly moist soil in full sun or part shade. The sunnier the spot, the moister the soil can be.

Care
Prunella grandiflora is an easy-going plant that requires little or no maintenance. Keep the soil around the roots moist as soil that is too dry will not be tolerated. This is a hardy plant that stays green for a long time into the winter. Cut off old leaves in the spring. The rhizome will spread nicely, fairly quickly. Large prunella flowers from early summer right into the autumn.
Ground cover
Prunella grandiflora makes terrific ground cover in sunny or part shaded spots. Allow it to naturalise - it spreads quickly but it is not invasive.
Extra
Large ‘self-heal’ (Prunella grandiflora) is mostly known as a ground cover plant because it stays green practically the whole year round. Its flowering is actually very pretty too and shows for 3 to 4 months. The flowers appear just above the leaves. You will be pleased with the amount of bees and butterflies that are attracted to this plant.
