Planting
The Ice Plant can be planted directly in the ground. Prepare a suitable hole in fairly dry, well-drained soil. Improve your soil by mixing in some sharp sand. Plant the Ice Plant at the appropriate depth in the hole. The top of the root ball should be just slightly below ground level. Fill the hole with soil and press firmly. Water immediately after planting. This plant grows best when placed in under complete sunshine.
Care
This Ice Plant is highly drought tolerant. Give extra water to its flowers during dry periods. Avoid watering too much as this can cause the roots to rot. For an extra rich bloom, it is recommended to add plant food along with water once or twice at the beginning of the summer.  Use 1/4 of the recommended amount. Remove its faded flowers regularly in order to encourage a good growth. You can expect beautiful flowers all summer long. Too much moisture during the winter is not well-tolerated by this plant.
Extra
Delosperma is an evergreen succulent plant. It can restore moisture in its narrow, fleshy leaves, and use them as a water reservoir for dry periods. This is especially useful in warm areas of South Africa, where the plant is originally from. The former name for this plant is Mesembryanthemum.
