Choose a pot with holes in the base, or a hanging basket. Cover the base with pot shards or a layer of hydro pellets. Put the potting compost in the pot and place the root balls of the Calibrachoa 'Bolero' mix plants at the correct height. Fill with more potting compost and press down firmly. Generously water immediately after planting. Place the plants approximately 20 cm apart in a pot.
Bloom will be richest on a spot in full sun. The supple stems of the Calibrachoa 'Bolero' mix plants can also lie on the ground. This will make it an excellent bed plant that will flower throughout summer. Place the plants approximately 30 cm apart in a bed.
Calibrachoa in hanging basket
Due to the trailing growth, the Calibrachoa 'Bolero' mix plants are very suitable for hanging baskets. Place the plants approximately 10 cm apart in a hanging basket. The stems will grow nicely between the other plants and trail over the edge in a stylish way. The remarkable colour is perfect for making combinations.
By regularly cutting off the spent flowers, you will encourage rebloom. For an extra rich bloom, Bakker recommends adding fertiliser to the water regularly. Regularly water your Calibrachoa, because the root ball in the pot should not dry out. Calibrachoa is an annual plant that will die in winter.
You can clearly see that calibrachoa is strongly related to the petunia. Simple care, trailing growth and exuberant flowering make the calibrachoa a popular choice amongst patio plants.
