Pure iris "Fruitsation". Fresh from the garden.
They look like purple wings. The flowers of the purple and white Iris germanica (bearded iris) "Fruitsation", that is. They have a wonderful fragrance too. We love it.
You will receive the Iris germanica "Fruitsation" as bare-root stock in sugar cane sacking. This is more environmentally friendly than plastic nursery pots. The roots are shipped fresh from the ground. They are already one year old. This gives them additional strength, enabling them to grow faster than they would in a nursery pot. Plants grown from bare-root stock also adapt to their new environment more easily. They flower better and they are more economical. Bare-root stock plants grow when it becomes warmer. These are winter-hardy perennials, so they return every year. Autumn is the best time to plant the Iris germanica.
They begin flowering at the end of spring. Bearded irises bloom for months. They can be planted in flowerpots or separately around the garden, in full sun. The bearded iris handles dry weather well. However, the roots should be watered immediately after planting.
