Planting
Anemone 'de Caen' corms can be very dry. A good tip is to soak the corms overnight in tepid water to help them get established more quickly. Plant in good, ordinary soil, well enriched with compost and manure. Plant approximately 5 cm deep and 5 cm apart. Plant in groups of at least 6 or divide 25 to 50 or more corms evenly in the beds or border. For larger groups make a wider hole and plant more corms in it. The more you plant the more colourful effect the flowers will give. Anemone 'de 'Caen' grows best in a warm spot in full sun or a partially shaded border. Anemone ‘de Caen’ in a pot The colourful Anemone 'de Caen' grow well in a flower pot or patio planter and can be planted closer together and 5 cm deep. Soak the corms overnight in tepid water. Make sure you use fresh potting compost and put a layer of gravel or hydro granules at the bottom of the pot. You can create colourful pots by combining the anemones with tulips and biennial plants for example the beautiful for-get-me-nots.
Care
Anemone 'de Caen' blooms from April to May. During dry periods the Anemone 'de Caen' will require extra watering.
Extra
Our mixed Anemone 'de Caen' produces large, bright coloured flowers in white, red, pink and purple. In the middle sits a large coronet of stamens. Often a white ring can be seen around the centre. The anemone corms look like small claws. The anemone is sometimes referred to as the 'Windflower', as the flowers sway around when they catch the slightest breeze. The plant grows naturally in Southern Europe and Asia.
