Planting
As soon as possible after receiving the Anemone Blanda corms plant them in the garden, or in pots for the patio or on the decking. If not they must be stored in a frost-free area – also corms planted in a flower pot are not usually frost resistant. Prior to planting soak the corms overnight in lukewarm water to help them get established more quickly. Loosen the soil well and plant the corms with the roots facing downwards in the hole approximately 7 cm deep and 2-5 cm apart. Refill the hole and avoid walking over the soil. Anemone Blanda thrives best in acid soil, rich in humus, in a spot in full sun or partial shade. Anemone Blanda in the garden Anemone Blanda are rather like daises and have delicate fern like foliage, they make a fantastic display if planted in large groups. The more corms you plant the more impact the flowers will have, so plant in groups of at least 15 corms, or divide 50 or more corms evenly through the border, or under bushes. Anemone Blanda will also look fantastic planted in a flower pot or a patio container. Make sure you use fresh potting compost and put a layer of gravel or hydro granules at the bottom of the pot. Mix them with taller growing spring flowerers such as tulips and create a colourful display
Care
Anemone Blanda is a small tuberous plant great for naturalizing, which means they can remain in the same spot for years. Each year they will multiply and reward you with more and more flowers! To protect the corms grown in a pot against frost, place the pot in a frost-free area or cover it with bubble wrap. Water during dry periods.
Extra
Anemone Blanda is a cheerful spring flowerer, covered in star-shaped flowers from March onwards. Our Turkish Anemone mix consists of various colours. Each flower has a yellow centre full of stamens. Anemone Blanda is a wonderful ground cover and thrives in the light shade of shrubs and trees. They originate from Greece and Turkey, and are sometimes known as Oriental anemones.
