10x Hyacinths Hyacinthus - Mix 'The Biggest'

Hyacinthus orientalis
Extra-large bulbs!
The hyacinth mix 'The Biggest' (Hyacinthus) consists of the most beautiful and abundantly flowering species. Not only do these hyacinths bring beautiful colours into the garden, but also a wonderful spring fragrance. The bulbs are extra large. This creates extra-large flowers. A beautiful sight in any garden! Plant the bulbs in the autumn. In well-drained soil. The flowers bloom in the spring.
The bulbs can be planted in open ground or in a pot. Potted bulbs aren't frost hardy, so bring the pot indoors or protect the plant with bubble wrap. Space the bulbs out when planting in open ground. The distance between plants is three times the width of the bulb. Plant the bulb the depth of three times the bulb's height. Plant the bulbs in full sun or partial shade. Water the bulb immediately after planting. Don't water it until the soil feels dry to the touch. The flower bulbs come in plant-based, organic packaging. Made of 100% natural, plant-based materials and 100% recyclable!
All of our flower bulbs have the Holland Selection A quality mark, and come with a 100% guarantee that they will grow and bloom. You can be certain that the flower bulbs will grow.

How we measure

We measure the diameter of the bulb. A bigger bulb contains more food for longer flowering and a stronger plant.

Planting+

As soon as possible after receiving the hyacinth bulbs they can be planted in the ground, a flower pot or in a planter. If not they must be kept in a frost-free area. Bulbs planted in a flower pot are not usually frost resistant. Plant the bulbs in a planting hole that is three times as deep as the height of the bulbs. Therefore a bulb of 5 cm should be planted in a 15 cm deep hole. The planting distance is about 15 cm. Loosen the soil well and plant the hyacinth bulbs with the point facing upwards and the roots facing downwards. Refill the planting hole and avoid walking over the soil. Plant the hyacinths one by one with a small trowel or with a special bulb planter. For larger groups make a wider hole and plant more bulbs in it. Hyacinths grow best in loose, well-drained soil in a spot in full sun or partial shade.

Hyacinths in the garden

A large group of mixed hyacinths will look amazing. Plant the hyacinths in groups of at least 10 bulbs, or divide about 30 to 50 bulbs evenly in a flower bed. These hyacinths with firm stems also grow well in a flower pot or in a patio planter, where they can be planted closer together. Make sure you use fresh potting compost and put a layer of gravel or hydro granules at the bottom of the pot. To protect the bulbs grown in a pot against frost, move the pot to a frost-free area or cover it with bubble wrap. Water during dry periods.

Care+

The flowers of the hyacinth are at their best in the first year. That’s why we recommend each year adding new and extra bulbs to make your borders and pots even more colourful. Hyacinths grow best in nutritious, well drained soil in an area in full sun or partial shade. To protect the bulbs grown in a pot against frost, move the pot to a frost-free area or cover it with bubble wrap. Water in dry periods.

Extra+

Our special mixed hyacinths consists of the most beautiful colours: white, light pink, purple and blue. The flowers smell delightful, these hyacinths fill the whole garden with their lovely perfume. Bring spring into the home by picking a few hyacinths for a vase in the living room. If you are mixing the hyacinths with other flowers in the vase, refresh the water every two days. Did you know that the hyacinth is related to the asparagus? As some people may be allergic to hyacinths it is advised to wear gardening gloves when handling them.
