Planting
The temple tree or frangipani will also do well positioned outside in a sunny spot in summer. It is a very easy and maintenance-free pot plant. Always ensure good drainage, so a flower pot or planter retaining water underneath in the pot is out of the question.
The plant can definitely not handle any frost. So be sure to bring your Plumeria rubra back inside on time. In winter, you should preferably keep it pretty cool (12 °C) and quite dry. In spring, put it back in a warmer position and repot if necessary. Then you can also give more water.

Care
The Plumeria rubra can withstand drought and heat very well. So put the plant in a well-lit spot in your living room. Protect it from bright sunlight in the middle of the day.
Don't water your temple tree or frangipani too often, bewcause the soil can be on the dry side. Regularly add fertiliser to the water in summer.
However, as a pot plant outside in summer, they will do fine in full sun, once they are made used to it by hardening them off.

Extra
The exotic Temple tree or Frangipani (Plumeria rubra) comes from tropical Central and South America. The flowers are really breathtakingly beautiful. The flowers also smells heavenly! The large leaves are also very decorative. In summer, they can bloom on stalks or stems with leaves. In Europe, these trees, which grow into a small tree of 6 to 8 meters high in the tropics, reaches up to 2 to 3 metres high as a pot plant. This will take at least 10 years.
This species can now be found throughout the tropics, where it is often planted as an ornamental plant. Numerous crossings were made, so there are currently a huge range of flower colours available.
In the other parts of the world, these plants are grown as house plants or pot plants. Did you know the Plumeria is family of the oleander? This is the dogbane family (Apocynaceae).
