Planting
Radish seeds require no prior treatment and the seeds are ready to use. Try and sow a new row of radishes every 2 or 3 weeks which will guarantee you a fresh supply of radishes for harvesting.  How to Sow Sow in the garden: March through August.
Sow under glass: January to March.
There are two ways to sow:
Directly in the garden, preferably in a sunny spot, from March right through August. Handiest is to sow a (half) row every 2 or 3 weeks and you will then be able to harvest for practically the whole season!
Loosen the soil with a fork to at least 30 cm deep. Make a straight shallow grove 1 cm deep and label each row you make. Mix the sand with dry sharp sand and sprinkle it along the row as thinly as possible between thumb and forefinger. Cover the seed with 0.5 cm of soil, press lightly down and sprinkle with water. Extra rows should be 20 cm apart.
Use the cold frame and some good and fine seed compost to sow under glass from mid-January. Mix the seed with fine, dry sand and sow evenly over the soil. Spread a light layer of soil over the seeds (max. 0.5 cm), press lightly down and sprinkle with water.
This seed will germinate in 6-14 days and after 2-3 weeks you can start thinning your seedlings out. You will lose those you prick out as radishes do not transplant well so, as you want them spaced at 2 cm, do sow very thinly in the first place.
Care
Do NOT fertilise! DO water extra in periods of drought. Keep the bed free of weeds and your radishes will flourish. Harvesting Harvest from April through September.
Always select the largest of your radishes when harvesting. This allows the smaller ones to continue growing.
Pick individual radishes by hand, or use a small trowel to loosen the soil around the plant and then remove the radishes. Radishes can be harvested early in the season.

Extra
Radishes are usually bright red on the outside with nice white on the inside. But colour can vary per variety from purple via pink to white and even yellow on the outside.
There are 2 types of radish - summer and winter (early and late). Summer radishes are the most popular variety.
