Blades in the water
A beautiful, spherical sight. The effect is intensified when the bulrush (Isolepis cernua) blooms with its small, white flowers. The oxygenating plant keeps our pond clear and algae-free! We plant the playful bulrush along our pond or deeper in the pond. We maintain a planting depth of 40 cm for the marsh plant. For added oxygen! The flowers bloom in the spring and summer.
We prune the plant slightly to shape it with a pruning shear. We remove old leaves and dirt. To encourage good growth, we add minerals to the pond water and ensure that the water's hardness level (pH value and calcium to magnesium ratio) is maintained. The aquatic plant loves sun and partial shade.

Care
Slender club-rush (Isolepis cernua) is a pond plant that requires little maintenance. Prune dead blades in the autumn and remove them from the pond. If the clump grows too large, you can remove the club-rush (Isolepis cernua) from the pond in May. Split the clump into smaller pieces and replant only a few of these.
Slender club-rush (Isolepis cernua) in the winter
The roots of slender club-rush (Isolepis cernua) are not frost hardy. However, to avoid any problems, simply ensure that the roots are deeper than the frost level. You can also put the basket with the club-rush (Isolepis cernua) into a container with water and keep this in a frost-free area.
Club-rush can also freeze inside a pot. If this happens, you can protect the root ball from serious frost by bringing the pot inside and storing it in a cool but frost-free area.
