Moneywort Lysimachia nummularia yellow - Marsh plant, waterside plant

Best to plant your moneywort or creeping Jenny (Lysimachia nummularia) immediately upon receipt, into flower pots or planters, directly into the garden or along the edge of the pond. If growing moneywort as a pot plant, do use a pot with holes in the base for drainage. Layer the bottom with hydro-pellets and plant the moneywort at the correct depth. Each plant should be 10-15 cm apart. Fill up with more soil, press firmly and water generously. Put the pot in a place where it’s in full sun. Line a porous pot with plastic to prevent evaporation or use a plastic inner pot. This will prevent evaporation and retain water for longer. When planting in the garden, you can set them further apart. Improve your garden soil by adding some potting compost. Moneywort grows well in full sun or part shade but you will get the largest amount of flowers if you choose a spot in full sun. Creeping Jenny along the edge of your pond Moneywort or creeping Jenny is an easily grown summer flowering plant that grows well in normal garden soil but this plant also feels at home in moist soil - like alongside a river, stream or pond. It’s best planted in a pond basket, lined with jute and filled with special pond medium. When planted in the basket, fill up with more pond medium and cover with the edges of the jute then sprinkle with a layer of gravel. This plant can go up to 10 cm deep in your pond. If your pond is too deep, stand the basket on a couple of bricks to make it shallower. Full sun or part shade.

Water your moneywort (Lysimachia nummularia) regularly and don't allow the root ball to dry out. For this plant the soil can even be on the damp side. Snip off overblown flower stems to encourage reflowering. If you want your moneywort to flower more abundantly, Bakker recommends adding plant food when watering in the spring.
