A red hedge? We are just mad about them! The unique barberry 'Atropurpurea' (Berberis thunbergii) adds excitement to our garden. A strong, decorative hedge. The dense hedge has a reddish-brown colour. Thanks to its maximum height of 1.5 metres, the plant is suitable as a lower hedge. For a dense hedge, we plant three plants per linear metre. The plant blooms in the spring with yellow flowers. The hedge should be pruned after leaf fall. For the best results, give the hedge 'beech and hedge' food.
We deliver the Berberis as bare-root stock: just the six bare branches and roots. The plants are shipped fresh from the ground. They are already two years old. This gives them additional strength, enabling them to branch out faster than they would in a nursery pot. The hedge loves the sun and partial shade. The soil should be kept slightly damp. Give it extra water during dry periods.
