Planting
Moss Phlox grows well in the ground. Prepare a suitable hole in fairly dry, well-drained soil. Improve your soil by mixing in some compost or granulated cow manure. Plant the Moss Phlox at the correct depth in the hole. The top of the root ball should be just slightly below ground level. Fill the hole with soil and press firmly. Water immediately after planting. This plant grows best when placed in complete or partial sunshine.
Moss Phlox is great for the garden
Moss Phlox bloom from spring until late summer and becomes smothered with flowers. This compact creeper grows wonderfully in flower pots, window-boxes, shallow bowls and even hanging baskets. Moss Phlox is great for hanging over walls or planting in the rock garden. It forms a dense mass and therefore makes a great ground cover. It is a fantastic plant combined with late blooming tulips.
Care
Moss Phlox is highly resistant to drought and requires minimal maintenance. Be sure to prevent the soil around the roots from drying out. Add plant food to the water on a regular basis. Carefully remove the faded stems during the summer. Moss Phlox is evergreen. During the spring, cut off any or unpleasant-looking leaves and old stems. Protect the plant against frost by covering it with conifer branches.
Extra
Moss Phlox is sometimes called flame flower.
