Pure columbines. Fresh from the garden.

A plant that reproduces on its own? That's the columbine. They sow their own seeds. After one growing season, you'll be surprised to find the columbine in other areas. This mix contains 5 columbines in different colours: Butterflies can't resist them. You will receive the columbine as bare-root stock in sugar cane sacking. This is more environmentally friendly than plastic nursery pots. The roots are shipped fresh from the ground. They are already one year old. This gives them additional strength, enabling them to grow faster than they would in a nursery pot. Plants grown from bare-root stock also adapt to their new environment more easily. They flower better and they are more economical. Bare-root stock plants grow when it becomes warmer. They are winter-hardy perennials. They can be planted at any time, provided that the ground is not frozen. Columbines will begin blooming at the end of spring. Keep the soil around the roots moist. But it should never be soaking wet. The columbine should be planted in full or half sun. They can also be planted around the garden or in flower pots on a patio, roof terrace or balcony.

Aquilegia will thrive in the garden but planted up in large pots won't be a problem for it. Dig a wide hole and fork the soil well loose. Improve poor garden soil with some added well-rotted manure. Plant the columbine root balls at the right depth - the top of the roots should be just below soil level. Fill the hole and heel well in. Water generously, immediately. Aquilegia thrive in a spot in full sun or part shade in a loose, humus rich soil.
