Planting
Plant the profuse flowering Petunia AlpeTunia® immediately upon receipt, in your garden, a decorative planter, or a hanging basket. Prepare a hole and improve garden soil with well rotted manure or potting compost and plant at 20 cm intervals. Refill the hole with soil, press firmly and water immediately after planting. Placed in full sun it will be overladen with flowers all summer long, so prepare to be amazed!
Pots and hanging baskets
The petunia is the ideal flower for keeping your planters and hanging baskets in colour through the summer. In spring, plant closely together in pots using fresh potting compost. You can create beautiful combinations by planting them with Lobelia, hanging geraniums and Verbena.
Beds and borders
More often than not we see petunias in hanging baskets but the petunia AlpeTunia® makes an excellent bedding plant too. Create a colourful border for your garden path or fill a bed with this bewitching petunia, surrounded with 'Box' hedging. They will cascade wonderfully over the edge of a low wall too.
Tip: Petunias are ideal for filling bare spots left after spring flowering bulbs have finished flowering in your beds and borders - they can be planted up to July!

Care
Water extra during dry periods, keep the bed weed-free and your petunias will thrive. Fairly undemanding, they do not however appreciate standing in water. Petunias do well even in poor soil conditions but a regular feed will encourage your petunia AlpeTunia® to flower more profusely - add plant food to the watering can fortnightly. Keep dead heading and your petunia will be encouraged to flower again and again. The plant will flower from June until the first frosts.
Extra
The petunia is an annual plant that reaches 25-30 cm high. This plant originated from South America and was imported from Argentina to Europe in 1833. Since then they have frequently been crossed by breeders, which has produced countless varieties! Now there are many hybrids for sale in the most beautiful colours and shapes.
Petunia belongs to the nightshade family (Solanaceae). Most hybrids are grouped under P. x hybrida. However, because there is such a great diversity within petunia hybrids, a further subdivision was created, referred to as 'sections'. The following sections are nowadays known as:
