How do I plant the spring starflower?
It’s best to plant the spring starflower as soon as possible after receipt. Plant it directly into the ground, in a flower pot or in a spacious planter. The spring starflower grows best in loose, well-drained soil. A sheltered spot in the sun, semi-shade or in the shadow will do just fine.

The spring starflower needs to be planted at a depth of about 10 cm. The distance between the bulbs should be about 5 cm. Use a small spade or a special bulb planter for planting. Plant the bulb with the tip up and the roots down.

Planting the spring starflower in the garden
Find a suitable place in the border or create a flowerbed. Loosen the soil well and divide the bulbs across the surface. That can be done in groups of 15, or spread 30 bulbs out evenly. Plant the bulbs as indicated above, water immediately, and don't walk on the freshly planted area.

How do I plant the spring starflower in a pot or planter?
Put a layer of hydro grains on the bottom of a decorative pot. Place the spring starflower in the potting soil at the right depth. Water immediately after planting. It's best to put the pot inside in winter, as a spring starflower in a pot doesn't cope well with frost.
Care
What do I need?
  • Watering can
  • Cow manure pellets

How do I care for the spring starflower?
You can leave the spring starflower in the same spot for years. The bulbs are very well suited to let them naturalise. Remove the stems after blooming so all the energy goes to the bulb. Clip off the leaves once they turn yellow. The Ipheon will surely appreciate some fertiliser after blooming!
