Watermelon begonia
This plant is the very essence of summer! The Peperomia argyreia is also known as the Watermelon begonia. Its leaves look just like the skin of a watermelon. The Peperomia is easy to care for. The plant should occasionally be given a good splash of water and then left to dry out. This is much better for the plant than giving it a little water on a more regular basis. The water should be placed in the saucer, not poured over the leaves. It is important that the water is able to drain away and not remain in the bottom of the pot. The plant likes light, but not the blazing midday sun. Add a fresh and fruity element to your living room with the Watermelon begonia.

- The Peperomia can also be planted in a larger flower pot so the plant has more room to grow. Cover the bottom of the inner pot with a layer of hydro grains.
- Then add a layer of potting soil to the pot.
- Remove the nursery pot and plant the Peperomia to 1 to 2 centimetres below the edge so there is room for the irrigation water.
- Fill the pot with fresh potting soil and press it down slightly.
Care
What do I need?
Water the Peperomia when the soil feels dry as this plant doesn't like to have wet feet. Don't feel bad if you skipped watering your plant ... that's no problem. Adding a bit of plant food to the irrigation water each month will give the plant some extra strength. Once the flowers have blossomed, you can clip them off. With the proper care, the plant will flourish again next year. The Peperomia loves warmth. Put the flower pot in a warm, bright spot but not in full sunlight.
