Narcissus botanical 'Rip van Winkle'
Cheerful and exotic
An exotic touch. The daffodil 'Rip van Winkle' (Narcissus) is a cheerful addition to the spring garden! The striking yellow 'Rip van Winkle' has an exotic look and compact growth. The double flowers are one of the earliest flowering daffodils! Plant the bulbs in the autumn. In well-drained soil. The flowers bloom in the spring.
The bulbs can be planted in open ground or in a pot. Potted bulbs aren't frost hardy, so bring the pot indoors or protect the plant with bubble wrap. Space the bulbs out when planting in open ground. The distance between plants is three times the width of the bulb. Plant the bulb the depth of three times the bulb's height. Plant the bulbs in full sun or partial shade. Water the bulb immediately after planting. Don't water it until the soil feels dry to the touch. The bulbs come in organic packaging. Made of 100% natural materials and 100% recyclable!
All of our flower bulbs have the Holland Selection A quality mark, and come with a 100% guarantee that they will grow and bloom. You can be certain that the flower bulbs will grow.

How we measure

We measure the diameter of the bulb. A bigger bulb contains more food for longer flowering and a stronger plant.

Planting+

As soon as possible after receiving the Narcissus ‘Rip van Winkle’ bulbs they can be planted in the garden, a flower pot or in a patio pot. If not the narcissi bulbs must be kept in a frost-free area. Bulbs planted in a flower pot are not usually frost-resistant. Plant the bulbs in a planting hole that is three times as deep as the height of the bulbs. For example a bulb of 5 cm should be planted in a 15 cm deep hole. The planting distance of the narcissi ‘Rip van Winkle’ is about 5 cm. Loosen the soil well and plant the bulbs with the point facing upwards and the roots facing downwards. Refill the planting hole and avoid walking over the soil again. Plant the flower bulbs one by one with a small trowel or with a special bulb planter. For larger areas, make a larger planting hole to accommodate several bulbs. The more flower bulbs planted, the greater effect the flowers will give. Plant the narcissi in groups of at least 6 bulbs, or divide about 25 to 50 flower bulbs evenly over the garden border or flowerbed.

Narcissus 'Rip van Winkle' in a pot

The compact Narcissus ‘Rip van Winkle’ grows wonderfully in a flower pot or patio container. Make sure you use fresh potting compost and put a layer of gravel or hydro granules at the bottom of the pot. Plant the bulbs with the point facing upwards in the pot. To protect the bulbs grown in a pot against frost, move the pot to a frost-free area or cover it with bubble wrap. Water during dry periods. After flowering the bulbs can be planted in the garden.

Care+

The Narcissus 'Rip van Winkle' bulbs can remain in the same spot for years. Deadhead the faded flowers and this will direct the energy back into the bulb. After flowering, leave the foliage to die down naturally and cut back when it has turned yellow. Narcissus 'Rip van Winkle' will flower in abundance the following spring if they are left undisturbed.

Extra+

Narcissus 'Rip van Winkle' is a miniature narcissi with unique flowers which have a special shape with very narrow yellow petals that have a tinge of green on the outside. The flowers are very full. A marvelous small narcissi that according to old records, 'Rip van Winkle' has been on the market since 1884.
