Narcissus 'Recurvus'
An orchestra in your garden!
Celebrate spring with the sound of trumpets. The daffodil 'Recurvus' (Narcissus) ought to be in an orchestra! The core of the elegant white petals looks a lot like a trumpet. The 'Recurvus' also makes a great cut flower! Plant the bulbs in the autumn. In well-drained soil. The flowers bloom in the spring.
The bulbs can be planted in open ground or in a pot. Potted bulbs aren't frost hardy, so bring the pot indoors or protect the plant with bubble wrap. Space the bulbs out when planting in open ground. The distance between plants is three times the width of the bulb. Plant the bulb the depth of three times the bulb's height. Plant the bulbs in full sun or partial shade. Water the bulb immediately after planting. Don't water it until the soil feels dry to the touch. The flower bulbs come in plant-based, organic packaging. Made of 100% natural, plant-based materials and 100% recyclable!
All of our flower bulbs have the Holland Selection A quality mark, and come with a 100% guarantee that they will grow and bloom. You can be certain that the flower bulbs will grow.

What do I need?

  • Small spade or bulb planter
  • Watering can
  • Fresh potting soil and hydro grains (for pots or planters)

How do I plant the narcissus?
It’s best to plant the narcissus as soon as possible after receipt. Plant it directly into the ground, in a flower pot or in a spacious planter. The narcissus grows best in loose, well-drained soil. A sheltered spot in the sun or semi-shade will do just fine.

The narcissus should be planted at a depth of 3 times the height of the bulb. For instance, if the narcissus bulb is 5 cm high it should be planted at a depth of 15 cm. The distance between small bulbs is 5 - 8 cm and 10 - 15 cm between larger ones.

Planting can be done in spring as well as in autumn. Use a small spade or a special bulb planter for planting. Plant the bulb with the tip up and the roots down.

How do I plant the narcissus in a pot or planter?
Put a layer of hydro grains on the bottom of a decorative pot. Place the flower bulb in the potting soil at the right depth. Water immediately after planting. A narcissus in a pot is not frost hardy. So put a layer of bubble wrap on the inside of the pot or put it inside before frost sets in.

Planting the narcissus in the garden
Find a suitable place in the border or create a flowerbed. Loosen the soil well and divide the narcissus bulbs across the surface. That can be done in groups of 6 or spread out evenly. Plant the narcissus as indicated above, water immediately, and don't walk on the freshly planted area.

How do I care for the narcissus?
The narcissus doesn't require a lot of care. Water well during dry spells. Make sure the soil doesn't become too moist. Remove dead flower stems so all the energy goes to the bulb. Clip off the narcissus's leaves once they turn yellow. During frost, put the pot inside in a cool area at a temperature above freezing. Cover the soil with leaves when the bulb is planted in the garden.

Extra+

Narcissus 'Recurvus' is simply gorgeous. The pure white slightly recurved petals form a beautiful contrast with the bicolour corona. This top-class narcissus spreads a delightful scent throughout the garden for weeks on end and it is certainly worth taking a closer smell! 'Recurvus' belongs to the Narcissus Poeticus-group and is therefore called the Poet's daffodil. It is one of the later narcissi to flower, marvelous in the nature garden, in the garden border and even under shrubs. The 'Recurvus' is also very rewarding as a cut flower.
