Black flowers in the pond
The look like red jewels in the pond! The dark red water lily is a real eye-catcher. On sunny days, the innermost part of the petals of 'Perry's Almost Black' (Nymphaea) turn black. Plant this perennial water-lily in the spring. The flowers bloom in the summer.
The aquatic plant is very easy to care for. We maintain a minimum planting depth of 30 cm. Just remove the older leaves in the autumn. Put the lily in a sunny spot.

Planting
Planting
Plant the rhizome of the water lily in a horizontal manner in a large pond basket filled with special water lily soil. Line the basket with a piece of jute, place the water lily in the basket and fill with soil. Cover everything with the remaining jute and sprinkle with a layer of gravel. For a rich bloom, choose a sunny spot in the pond and place the basket at the correct depth. Light shade is also tolerated.
Care
Care
In autumn, remove the dead leaves of the water lily from the pond. Place the basket at least 40 cm deep in winter in order to prevent freezing. Is the water lily too large? If so, in May you can dig up the roots and cut the thick rhizome with a knife into smaller pieces and replant them again.
