Planting

Place the water plantain in the basket and fill with earth. Cover everything with the remaining jute and sprinkle with a layer of gravel. Place the basket at a depth of 10-30 cm in the pond. If your pond is not too shallow, you can place your basket within a pile of stones. Place this aquatic plant in the full sun or partial shade.
Combining the water plantain with other plants
The water plantain (Alisma plantago-aquatica) is an ornamental aquatic plant that gives your pond a natural appearance. Alisma plantago-aquatica can easily be combined with the flowering rush (Butomus umbellatus) and the yellow iris (Iris pseudacorus) along the edge of a natural pond. These marginal plants are bound to attract all manner of tiny creatures.
Care
Alisma plantago-aquatica is an aquatic plant that requires minimal maintenance. Cut back any dead foliage in autumn and clear from the pond.
The water plantain has thick fibrous roots.
