Robust character
A mini Christmas tree with snow! The stone pine (Pinus) 'Silver Crest' has a flattened spherical crown on a sturdy orange-brown trunk. In the young stage, the needles are evenly grey. Later, they turn grey-green. The tree does not drop any needles. In its adult stage, the tree grows into a beautiful stone pine! In the young, growth stage, the tree grows green round cones. From the third year onwards as they mature, these grow egg-shaped and develop a shiny brown colour.
The seeds of the tree are edible. These are the well-known pine nuts. Give the Pinus a sunny spot. The hardy tree tolerates drought well and likes to stand in sandy soil.
