Three types of apple on one tree
We love unique things. Like this apple tree with three different apple varieties. The three well-known varieties are: the red ‘Jonagored‘, the yellow-green ‘Golden Delicious‘ and the red-yellow ‘Elstar‘. These varieties have been specially grafted onto a single stem. The apple tree is self-pollinating. This apple tree in a nursery pot makes it easy for us to grow delicious apples in our own garden. Alternatively, we can plant the apple tree in a large pot on a patio, roof terrace or balcony. The fruit tree blossoms in spring. That's when it reveals its lovely white-pink flowers. A crop will be ready to harvest from summer onwards in the second year after planting. We prune the apple tree in winter, provided that it isn't frozen. The apple tree grows in well-drained soil that we keep nice and moist. It's best to give the tree extra water during dry spells. Sufficient light is needed to ensure good growth, which is why we plant the fruit tree in full or half sun.

Planting
Apples grow best in fertile soil. Make sure the apple tree root ball is well-moistened before planting by soaking it in a bucket of lukewarm water.
Prepare a suitable hole and improve poor garden soil by mixing in some compost and well-rotted manure. Plant the apple tree at the right depth in the hole - the top of the root ball should be approximately 10 cm below ground level. Plant the tree next to a tree stake and wrap a tree belt around the stake and trunk. Fill the hole with soil, heel well in and water thoroughly immediately after planting. This apple tree will thrive in an area with complete sunshine. The apple tree can be planted in a pot You can plant the tree in the ground, where eventually it will become a rather large tree. It is also possible to plant it in a large pot or tub. A pot grown tree will remain smaller.

Care
The Malus domestica is a strong and healthy variety. We advise a mulch of compost and granulated cow manure around the trunk of the tree in winter. Water extra during dry spells. Thin out the fruits in August by removing the smallest apples so that all the energy goes to the largest fruit. The apples can be harvested from October.
Apple trees can be pruned
Prune apple trees from November through to March as long as there is no frost. Fruit trees continue to grow from the top, so if you want a tree that is not so tall we would advise topping it off. Most apple trees grow short, highly branched side branches on which the apples develop – you can stimulate their growth by cutting back the main stems 30%, to just above a bud. Thereafter, prune all branches back to 3-6 buds and you will then see the fruit develop.
Extra
Apples are good for you and contain lots of vitamin C.
