Planting
Pachysandra terminalis grows best in the garden. Dig a spacious planting hole and loosen the soil. Improve poor garden soil by mixing it with compost. Put the root ball of the Japanese spurge at the right depth in the planting hole. The top of the root ball should be just below the ground level. Fill the planting hole with soil and press firmly. Water immediately after planting. Pachysandra terminalis grows well in a spot in partial or full shade in loose, humus-rich soil. Pachysandra in the garden You can plant Pachysandra terminalis in large groups. Once the foliage has spread, weeds stand no chance. This ground cover plant combines well with other low-growing varieties such as Hypericum (Hipericum calycinum) and variegated wall pepper (Sedum kamtschaticum ‘Variegatum’) Also beautiful for shady rich borders.
Care
Pachysandra terminalis is an easy to cultivate perennial that requires little maintenance. Water regularly so the soil around the roots does not dry out. In the spring you can cut away the dead leaves and soon young, fresh green leaves will appear again.
Extra
Pachysandra terminalis is a very strong ground cover plant with wintergreen leaves. After a short time a wintergreen carpet of decorative leaves will appear. Also ideal for planting in more difficult areas of the garden. For example in the shade of a hedge or under deciduous shrubs. In March-April this semi-shrub flowers with white flowers clusters.
