A versatile, beautiful crop. The fruit, leaves and seeds of okra 'Clemson Spineless' (Abelmoschus) are edible. Even its buds are edible and can be used in wok stir-fries. Okra blooms beautifully. It is used a lot in sauces, soups and casseroles. Plant the vegetable seeds indoors from mid-March at a temperature of 21–23ºC. Move them out to a greenhouse or conservatory from late May. You can harvest them in July and August. The plant grows to around 2 metres high. That is why the plant is best tied up or supported.
