The plant looks just like an olive tree! The dwarf lilac 'Dark Purple' (Syringa) really gets your attention. A small ball of deep purple flowers grows on its thin, high stem. The flowers spread a lovely fragrance throughout the garden. This entices butterflies and bees to visit. The shrub grows to a height of up to 1.5 metres in open ground. The dwarf lilac can also be planted in a large planter. We can plant the hardy shrub all year round. The flowers bloom in the spring and summer.
The shrub does not require pruning. Plant the dwarf lilac in the sun. The shrub will grow in any well-drained soil. The root ball should be kept slightly damp.
