Flowers full of butterflies
Stunning colours and a wonderful fragrance in your garden! The butterfly bush (Buddleja davidii) is a real treat! The large pot means that the plant is better rooted, enabling it to grow bigger and stronger than ever. It also grows flowers that will bloom as soon as summer arrives. So butterflies will come to visit the butterfly bush even sooner.
Plant it in a conspicuous place in the sun and keep the soil slightly moist. It's important to prune the butterfly bush in spring.
Enjoy this big beauty.

Planting
Make sure the root ball of Buddleia davidii is well-moistened by soaking in a bucket of lukewarm water before planting. Prepare a suitable hole in fertile soil. Improve poor garden soil by adding compost and granulated cow manure. Plant the root ball of Butterfly Bush at the appropriate depth in the hole - the top of the root ball should be just slightly below ground level. Fill the hole with soil and press firmly down. Water immediately after planting. The Butterfly Bush should stand in full sun or partial shade.
Butterfly Bushes combine well with other plants
This rich-flowering butterfly bush also makes a great border plant. You can create beautiful combinations with Acanthus Mollis and Echinacea Purpurea. Combine this Buddleia davidii in the shrubbery with Caryopteris Clandonensis 'Heavenly Blue' or the black elderberry (Sambucus Nigra 'Thundercloud').
Care
The Butterfly Bush is a strong shrub that requires minimal maintenance. In winter, provide it with a mulch of compost and well rotted manure. Wet soil in the winter is not tolerated.
Pruning Buddleia (Butterfly Bush)
Butterfly Bushes bloom on one-year wood. Cut back the butterfly bush annually in early April to 3 (opening) buds. If necessary, you can rejuvenate the shrub by cutting back to a third. Unpruned this shrub will grow to 4-5 metres high, pruned it will reach 2 metres.
Extra
It's not named butterfly bush for no reason! Its large clusters of small flowers attract loads of butterflies. Your butterfly garden should definitely have a Buddleia davidii - not least for the delightful scent of the blooms.
