Planting
Warmth and light are essential so as soon as possible after receiving the Bonsai Carmona, place it on a sunny windowsill where the temperature will not drop below 50º F (10º C) moving it to a warmer spot in wintry weather. If placed in full sun the small tree may burn slightly.
Care
Water your Carmona bonsai tree regularly and do not allow it to dry out. Too much water on the other hand, will also not be best tolerated. Give your bonsai soluble feed regularly throughout the seasons from spring to late summer. It will appreciate a highly humid surroundings so spray regularly with rain water too. Turn the whole thing regularly to give all sides of the tree sufficient light.
Pruning Bonsai Carmona
You can keep your bonsai tree small with regular pruning. Allow new shoots to grow 8 leaves then prune back to two. Keep an eye on the pretty shape of the tree when pruning.
Pot your bonsai up to a slightly larger dish every two years. That's the time to also prune those longer roots back.

Extra
Carmona microphylla is a fairly large, evergreen from China and is related to the tea bush. The branches become covered in small, glossy leaves. White, star-shaped blossom appears between this foliage in the spring. This particular variety makes a great bonsai tree when pruned. We have here a really prettily formed bonsai, complete with its own dish and saucer. It has the same shape as a full-sized Carmona tree (Fukien Tea Tree), just in miniature.
This variety was recently renamed Ehretia microphylla but is still more popular as the old name Carmona microphylla.
