Its large, coarse fruit has a ribbed appearance. The beefsteak tomato 'Coeur de Boeuf' (Solanum lycopersicum) is a climbing variety. It ripens from the inside out. And its sepals are long and green. The 'Coeur de Boeuf' is also called oxheart. It has a distinctive flavour. Plant the vegetable seeds in February to April in a vegetable container when it is 20°C, or under glass outdoors later in the year. After thinning, plant the Solanum in a greenhouse or a flower pot. You can harvest from July to October.
Space the tomato seeds 45 cm apart. Space the rows at a distance of 45 cm. Plant at a depth of 0.5 to 1 cm. Regularly remove shoots (suckers) appearing between leafing branches and the main stem. This keeps them from growing wildly. Plant the tomatoes in a nice spot in partial shade or full sun. After sowing, water the seeds adequately. The vegetable seeds come in a bag containing approximately 0.75 grams. This is enough to sow 2 square metres.
