A burst of colourful intention!
A sturdy perennial! The Penstemon (Penstemon hartwegii) stays beautiful. The red-purple flowers have a distinctive shape, which looks a little like the head of a turtle. This hardy beauty blooms from July to September.
For a longer flowering period, cut back part of the plant around the beginning of June. This encourages the uncut flowers to bloom from August onwards, while the uncut ones will flower later. Place the plantin a spot in the sun or half shade. Make sure that the soil is moist by watering during dry periods.
A stunning plant!
