An oasis of colour!
A stunning carpet of colour! The Sweet William 'Nanus' (Dianthus) is a beautiful sight. Sweet William is resplendent in white, pink and red. This Sweet William mix is highly recommended for in borders and in flower pots. The flowers of the Sweet William also look good in a vase. Here too, the popular Sweet William will steal the show! This hardy beauty blooms from July to September.
For a longer flowering period, cut back part of the plant around the beginning of June. This encourages the uncut flowers to bloom from August onwards, while the uncut ones will flower later. Place the plant in the full sun or partial shade. Make sure that the soil is moist by watering during dry periods.

Planting
You can plant Sweet William Mix directly into a flower pot, window-box or in the garden. If using a pot, make sure there are holes in the base, cover the bottom with a layer of potsherds or hydrograins. Put fresh potting compost in the pot and plant the clump of Sweet William Mix at the correct depth. Spacing is approximately 15 cm apart from each other. Fill with compost and press firmly. Water immediately after planting. Place the pot in an area with complete or partial sunshine. Line a porous pot with plastic or use a pot liner in order to prevent evaporation so that the soil dries out less quickly. Are you planting your Sweet William Mix in the garden? If so, space further apart and plant in well-drained neutral soil. You can improve your garden soil by mixing in some fresh potting compost.
Sweet William Mix makes an excellent combination plant
The low-growing Sweet William Mix has a compact growth and is therefore an ideal border plant. Its beautifully-shaped flowers have fairly flat petals and are white, pink, red and sometimes bi-colour flowers. You can plant Sweet William Mix in the border or in the flower bed along with Sidalcea Oregana 'Party Girl'. This compact Sweet William Mix is also beautiful in a flower pot or planter.
Care
Water your Sweet William Mix regularly to prevent the soil around the roots from drying out. Remove the faded flowers to maintain a compact flowering habit or to prolong flowering. For an extra rich flowering, we recommend adding plant food when watering, regularly during the summer. Sweet William Mix is a biennial plant that experiences a winter dieback.
Extra
The well-known Dianthus is easily recognisable as a popular flower used in flower arrangements. This variety is not quite so suitable for that, as the Dianthus barbatus 'Nanus' is actually a low growing variety - but it has other cut flower attributes that are perfect. The fragrant flowers keep for a long time in the vase. This dwarf Dianthus mix (also known affectionately as Sweet William) is therefore particularly suitable for the smaller bunches.
