This flower is quite a looker.
Striking, light pink flowers with purple centres. The speedwell "Pink Eveline" is perfect for a border. The speedwell can also be planted in pots on a patio, roof terrace or balcony. But it does well in the garden too. The "Pink Eveline" makes excellent cut flowers. You will receive the speedwell as bare-root stock in sugar cane sacking. This is more environmentally friendly than plastic nursery pots. The roots are shipped fresh from the ground. They are already one year old. This gives them additional strength, enabling them to grow faster than they would in a nursery pot. Plants grown from bare-root stock also adapt to their new environment more easily. They flower better and they are more economical. Bare-root stock plants grow when it becomes warmer. They are winter-hardy perennials. They can be planted at any time, provided that the ground is not frozen. The speedwell begins flowering in the summer. This will continue for months. The speedwell needs a spot in full or half sun. Make sure that the plant gets enough water in order to keep the soil moist. The "Pink Eveline" likes it that way!

Planting
Make sure the Speedwell root ball is soaked well prior to planting. Place in a bucket of lukewarm water beforehand if necessary. Dig a large hole and loosen the soil with a digging fork. The plant spacing should be 30 cm. Place in the hole at the correct depth, which means that the top of the root ball should be just slightly below ground level. Refill the hole with soil, press down firmly and water immediately after planting. Speedwell thrives in well-drained, fertile soil and can be planted in full sun or partial shade.
Veronica longifolia 'Pink Eveline' in borders
The exuberantly flowering Veronica (Speedwell) is a very popular border perennial, flowering from July to September. The charming pale pink to purple shades combine fantastically well with other border plants. Plant Veronica longifolia 'Pink Eveline' with Lavatera 'Sweet Dreams' and delphinium (Larkspur), for example. Veronicas also look lovely planted next to roses.
Care
Veronicas must be watered regularly to prevent the roots from drying out. You can extend the flowering season by regularly removing the spent flower spikes from your Veronicas. Bakker recommends adding plant food regularly when watering during the summer to encourage an abundance of flowers. Protect the Veronica from severe frost with a layer of fallen leaves or straw.
Extra
Veronica longifolia 'Pink Eveline' is an especially lovely perennial. Its flower spikes are particularly elegant and bloom all summer long. The flowers make excellent cut flowers. The Veronica genus is part of the (Figwort) family, Scrophulariaceae.
