In spring, plant the Spider Lily ‘Sulphur Queen’ Hymenocallis festalis bulbs in the garden or in a large flower pot. Beware of late frosts (night). Recommended planting depth: twice the height of the bulb, this means that a 5 cm bulb would be planted in a 10 cm hole. Planting distance of the Hymenocallis approximately 20 cm. Before planting thoroughly loosen the soil and plant the bulb with the tip facing upwards and the roots spread around the bulb. Fill the hole with soil. You can plant the large flower bulbs separately or in small groups.

The bulbs of Hymenocallis festalis 'Sulphur Queen' are not winter-hardy, but they are relatively easy to overwinter. For this, reduce watering in autumn and place the pot in a frost-free room before winter, do not allow the soil to dry out completely. Once the new foliage is visible, resume watering, also regularly add plant nutrition to the water. Then, allow ‘Sulphur Queen’ to gradually get used to the outside temperatures. When there are no longer signs of night frosts, your spider lily can return to a place on the patio.
