100x Large-flowered gladiolus - Mix

Gladiolus
Summery colours
We can never get enough of gladioli! That's why we recommend this multi-coloured mix. The large-flowered gladiolus attracts butterflies. This is how to create a natural, summery garden. Plant the tubers in the spring. The flowers bloom in the summer.
Space the tubers out when planting. The distance between plants is three times the width of the tuber. Plant the tuber the depth of three times the tuber's height. Place the gladioli in full sun. 0 The flower bulbs come in organic packaging. 100% degradable and contributes to a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.
All our flower bulbs have the A quality mark of the Holland Selection and come with a 100% guarantee that they will grow and bloom. You can be certain that the flower bulbs will grow.

How we measure

We measure the diameter of the bulb. A bigger bulb contains more food for longer flowering and a stronger plant.

Planting+

In spring, plant the Large-flowered Gladioli corms about 7-10 cm deep. Prepare a suitable hole in good, loose soil and sprinkle the bottom of the hole with a layer of sharp sand so that rainwater can drain well below the corms as Gladiolas prefer rich, well-drained soil. Plant the corms about 10-12 cm apart from each other. Improve your garden soil by adding compost. During the winter apply some lime to the soil. Large-flowered Gladioli grow well in a warm, sunny spot.

Combining large-flowerd gladiolus

These beautiful gladioli have extra large flowers in full colours. You can use them to create special combinations in your border. Try placing a group of large-flowered gladioli next to arum lilies (Zantedeschia) or dahlias. This striking bloomer is also excellent for use as cut flower.

Care+

Make sure you fertilize regularly, so the flower buds of the Gladioli flourish. It is a good idea to add fertilizer when watering. Stop fertilizing three weeks after flowering. The Gladioli flower stems can become quite heavy, so they may need some support. Completely cut off the faded flower stems. It is best to choose a different area each year to plant your Gladioli.

Keeping large-flowered gladiolus through the winter

Gladioli corms can easily be stored through the winter. After the first night frost when the foliage has died back, lift the plant and cut all stems back to 10 cm above the corms and let them dry. Attach a label with the name of the Gladioli so that next year you know which variety it is. Shake the soil from the corms and place in a box of compost or sharp sand. Store the box in a frost-free area. You can plant the corms again the following spring and they will reward you with their beautiful flowers.

Extra+

These rich-flowering Gladioli make beautiful cut flowers. They last a long time in a vase. You should definitely plant a group of Large-flowered Gladioli in your garden for cutting. Pick the stems (when the bottom flower begins to show) preferably early in the morning. Place the stems of the gladioli directly into a vase full of lukewarm water with cut flower food. Due to their strong stems, Large-flowered Gladioli can easily 'reach' for water. Here's an extra tip: Plant an extra group two weeks later. As a result, the blooming period of your flowers will be extended.
