This is a sturdy, fragrant garden plant. The phlox was originally an old-fashioned favourite known for its bright red colour and is therefore often called the flame flower. A perfect perennial that is gaining interest as more than seventy varieties have been developed focusing on different colours, such as violet, pink and white, all of which belong to the flame flower family. The flower stems bearing large clusters of flowers grow to a height between 1-1.2 metres and bloom through summer up to autumn. A lovely plant for the summer perennial garden and a great flower for attracting butterflies! The best time to plant: April/August when the soil is still warm. There are many varieties of phlox available.
