How do I plant the Sternbergia?
It’s best to plant the Sternbergia as soon as possible after receipt. Plant it directly into the ground. The flower bulb grows best in loose, well-drained soil. Place this autumn blooming narcissus in a nice, sunny spot - even if the plant is not visibly active in spring.
Dig a spacious hole of about 10 cm deep and loosen the soil well. Cover the bottom of the hole with a layer of coarse sand for proper drainage. The Sternbergia does not deal well with acidic soils. Then fill up the hole with soil, press it down firmly and water immediately.
Planting can be done in spring as well as in autumn. When planting multiple bulbs, please maintain a distance of 8 to 10 cm between them.
