Unique roses for the plant lover with style! The spray rose 'Saphir' has unusual, purple-blue flowers. Dare to make a statement in your garden!

The rose can be planted all year round and does best in full sun or partial shade. The flowers bloom from summer right through to autumn. You can prune them in spring. It is important to give it a good watering after planting and during dry periods.

This rose is licensed, which means that it has been cultivated for health and is less susceptible to disease. The leaves, for example, stay on the plant all summer, which helps the rose to bloom and means that you can enjoy the flowers, healthy leaves and the scent of the roses for longer.

All of our roses are grafted, which means that they have a frost-sensitive grafting point (the thicker area where the branches originate). The advantage of grafted roses is that they are much more winter-hardy and last longer because roses grafted to rootstock are stronger.

Planting
We supply only the best, 'A' quality roses – (quality label of the European Nursery Stock Association) with 3 strong branches. We store our roses under perfect climate conditions in our coolers - 2°C and 98% humidity as bare roots.
The quality is checked at several different stages during storage and finally just prior to shipping to our customers. We treat our rose bushes with a special gel that prevents them from drying out during transport.
Soak these garden rose bushes in a bucket of lukewarm water for 24 hours prior to planting. Prepare a large hole, loosen the soil thoroughly with a fork, improve the soil with the addition of some well-rotted manure and granulated cow manure. Spread the bare roots and place in the hole at the correct depth - the frost sensitive graft (the thicker part on the stem where the branches shoot out) should be 5 cm below soil level. Fill the hole with the improved soil, heel well in and water generously. Full sun (part shade) is necessary for abundant flowering.

Potted Spray Roses on Patio or Decking This very attractive spray rose is also great for planting in a pot on the patio. Use an ornamental flower pot with holes in the base for drainage. Cover the bottom with a layer of gravel or hydro granules and add fresh potting compost mixed with a little granulated cow manure. Water immediately after planting then place the pot in a position in full sun or partial shade.

Care
The spray rose should be pruned every spring. This is actually very simple: in March prune the branches back to within 3 to 5 eyes (buds). Leave about five big branches per bush. The roses you receive from us have already been pruned, so you do not have to prune for another eighteen months. Fertilising roses The spray rose relies on plant food for a rich flowering. Therefore regularly apply a fertiliser. During the winter sprinkle granulated cow manure around the base of the bush. In spring apply a mixed organic fertiliser and in July use the special rose fertiliser. Check on the packaging for the correct amount to be used.

Extra
This sturdy rose produces wonderful flowers in sprays. The flowers are semi-double appearing throughout the summer. Spray roses look terrific when potted up but of course you can plant these unusual looking rose bushes in the garden too. Planted in groups, the lovely flowers will look even better.
All roses (Rosa) have their own family, the rose family (Rosaceae).
