Prior to planting soak the roots for an hour in a bucket of lukewarm water. You can plant this mix in flower pots, window-boxes or in the garden. Do you want to plant these plants in a pot? Choose a large flower pot or planter with holes in the base and cover the bottom with a layer of potsherds or gravel. Add fresh potting compost and mix in some sharp sand. Plant the root balls at the right depth in the pot. The planting distance is 10-15 cm. Fill with compost and press firmly. Give the plants plenty of water immediately after planting. Place the pot in a sunny spot. Are you planting these plants in the garden? If so, you will need to space them further apart at a distance of 10-15 cm.
These plants are strong, easy-to-grow and low-maintenance perennials. Make sure that the soil around the roots does not dry out, although wet soil is not well-tolerated either. Cut off faded flower stems to stimulate growth and the flowering will continue throughout the summer. Cover the plants with a layer of fallen leaves during the winter. In spring, cut off any unpleasant-looking leaves and soon there will be some new shoots growing above ground.
